Our Mission

“Recovery is Possible.”

The Rhabdomyolysis Foundation was established in 2022. It was created to help raise awareness about rhabdomyolysis, commonly referred to as “rhabdo.” Rhabdo is an acute muscle-related condition causing muscle tissue breakdown that can result in damage to the kidneys. Proteins from muscle damage enter the bloodstream and can affect vital kidney and liver function. Rhabdo is considered an emergency and individuals should seek immediate medical attention.

The condition is still considered rare, however, there has been a significant amount of cases since covid-19. Patients get rhabdo as a result of over exercise/exertion, vaccines, viruses s, physical trauma such as a car accident, snake bits, statins, alcohol or drugs.

Many healthcare professionals along with the public still lack knowledge on diagnosis and treatment. The goal of the Rhabdo Foundation is to raise awareness, assist survivors, families of the deceased, and patients. We seek to build awareness and fund more medical research.

Awareness is crucial to surviving this condition — especially with the recent uptick in exercise-induced rhabdomyolysis cases.

Rhabdo can reoccur in some individuals, which can be associated with other underlying disease such as neuromuscular disorders, neurological disorders, autoimmune disorders and genetic disease. It is crucial for patients to stay diligent to uncover what may be causing their reoccurrance.

It is our goal to provide support, resources, recommended products and services that may help you and your family members get through this challenging condition, if diagnosed by a doctor. It is our mission to serve you however we can.

We seek to raise awareness among the public, medical and exercise communities.

We are continuing to build the foundation’s infrastructure, reach and messaging and are always looking for support. We currently have two avenues for donations — Patient Advocacy and Research and Development (R&D).

Patient Advocacy — funds to support survivors and patients. Supports awareness within the medical community and looks to help rhabdo survivors directly.

R&D — partnerships with other non-profits, medical facilities and funding opportunities to receive grants to support rhabdo research and develop products that may help survivors.
